Once upon a time when all human beings
were Gods, but they so abused their
divinity that Brahma, the chief God,
decided to take it away from them and
hide it.

Brahma called a council of the Gods
to help him decide.

ìLetís bury it deep in the earth,î said the Gods.

But Brahma answered, ìNo, that will not
do because humans will dig into the earth
and find it.î

Then the Gods said, ìLetís sink it in the
deepest ocean.î

But Brahma said, ìNo, not there, for they will
learn to dive into the ocean and will find it.î

Then the Gods said, ìLetís take it to the top
of the highest mountain and hide it there.î

But once again Brahma replied, ìNo, that will
not do either, because they will eventually climb
every mountain.î

Then the Gods gave up and said, ìWe do not know
where to hide it, because it seems that there is
no place in existence that humans will not
eventually reach.î

Brahma thought for a long time and then said,
ìHere is what we will do. We will hide their
divinity deep in the center of their own being,
for humans will never think to look for it there.î

All the Gods agreed that this was the perfect
hiding place, and the deed was done.

And since that time, humans have been going up
and down the earth, digging, diving, climbing,
and exploring ñ searching for something already
within themselves.

I am just after reading “To hold the sun” by Chas Watkins. This is a fiction book, but the stories deliver universal truths, that you might already know. The book takes you to the incredible island of Roatan, voted as one of the most beautiful island in the world.

What makes it special is, that it’s also putting these highly efficient and purposeful foundation into simple steps, that you can use. In a simple dialogue between two very charismatic characters you would discover that you too,  if you wish can hold the sun.

As the author said with all the self help books that are available these days you can be a married millionaire with a body of Greek god and the spirituality of the Dalai lama. But this can not be further from the truth.

“To Hold the Sun” takes you on a real journey. As well as some outstanding scenery and pictures the book will also satisfy you “hunger” for practical and very realistic tools, that you can use to create a lifestyle changes, that you want.

Let’s take pain for an example. As human beings we go to great effort to avoid pain. The truth is every pain has a purpose and emotions even when they are painful are here to help us and guide us. All negative emotions, including anger, jealousy, envy  have a reason to exist.

Let’s face it, we all feel pain, have challenges to overcome or disasters to deal with. Paul is one of the main characters in the book. He shows a very simple exercise that any of us can do in order to find a way to deal with pain.

You are well aware that long term negative emotions are harmful and they can hold you back. You hold the true power to change that. The true power is within you. Your powerful open heart has the unconditional love flowing through it.

A lot of people want to believe that there is “The Secret” to happiness and if you send positive thoughts  the Universe will give you everything that you want. This is another statement that still makes a lot of profit because there are people who believe in it.

The first mistake that people make when they want to achieve some kind of change or improvement in their life is to WANT ALL AND TO WANT IT NOW. This almost never works. Archiving permanent positive change sometimes only takes adding or relapsing a small habit.

Remember that small habits are the key to lifestyle changes. sometimes the smaller the habit the better. Deciding to exercise daily for 20 minutes, practising yoga or meditating will create a ripple effect and will affect all areas of your life. After one month you would start feeling healthier and you would be very likely to take interest in nutrition. This will lead you to eating better .When you eat better you feel better. When you feel better you feel more productive and confident in your work. Then you would enjoy your work even more and your raised energy would bring new people and more opportunities into your life. You can drastically improve your business by committing to a small habit daily. It is worth every bit of effort.

Once a new habit become a second nature you have established a routine which is a bedrock to your good habits.

Even if changes seem to happen suddenly it’s almost always a case of gradual build up. Change is hard for most people as it takes us to face ourselves and accept our flaws.

It is not possible to become someone different overnight. As one of the main characters said “If we believed we are open to change we would listen more and argue less.”

Personally the best thing I got from reading the story is this. Change is the only sure thing in life. “Time will change us, so choose the change.”.It is inevitable that time will change us and you won’t be same person whether you like it or not. You don’t have control over your growth entirely, but you can respond in each moment.

Top YOGA poses you can do without ever leaving your bed

 

Yoga is a great way to relax and unwind and the perfect way to start any day or to help you gently go to sleep. Now before you get started, there are a few things you need to know. In bed you’re not going to be able to go as far into a position because there won’t be as much support or resistance to stretch compared to being on a hard floor. Pay attention to your body, if anything feels too intense or begins to hurt you need to relax back out of the position. The most important part of your bed yoga kit will be your mattress. A sturdy mattress like a Tempur mattress will offer you plenty of strength for you to practise your poses.

Baby Pose

This pose is mentally calming and also stimulating physically, which makes it perfect for such a day when you have a lot to deal with. Lie flat on your back with your feet up in the air and hold onto the outside of your feet firmly with your hands. Begin to open your knees wider than your torso, then bring them up slowly closer to your torso. Gently start to rock in a way that feels comfortable for you, while pushing your feet into your hands as you pull your hands back down to create resistance. Find a still point in your body and focus on driving the rail bone down. This will elongate the lower back and allow the hips to stretch, getting the blood flowing.

Child’s Pose

This is a very simple, calming pose that is easy to do in bed. Begin to kneel on your mattress while allowing your big toes to touch the bed. Begin separating your knees as wide as your hips or as far as you can while remaining comfortable, and lie down between your thighs. This is a restorative position so stay there as long as you like.

Corpse Pose

This pose looks a lot like you’re sleeping, but it’s really an amazing way to practice consciously resting. This in itself is a great state of mind to be in. Start by lying on your back with your arms down by your sides, having your palms facing upwards. This pose is extremely versatile, doing it before to empty your thoughts and wind-down so you may rest, or in the mornings to start your day.

Pigeon Pose

The Pigeon pose is a very intensive leg stretch the will open up your hips leaving you feeling revitalized. Start with your hands shoulder distance apart, lowering down onto all fours. Bring your right knee forward keeping to between your hands so your leg is resting on the bed. Now make sure your left is in line with your hip and that your left foot is flat on the bed. When exhaling, bend forward over your right knee and stay there for as long as need. Finally repeat on the other side.
